Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT)
Definition
The Transition Plan Taskforce was established by the UK Treasury in 2022 to develop a gold-standard framework for private sector climate transition plans. Its Disclosure Framework (2023) defines good practice across five elements — foundations (ambition, strategy), implementation strategy, engagement strategy, metrics and targets, and governance — built on three principles: ambition, action and accountability. The framework has been adopted as the reference by the ISSB and regulators internationally for assessing transition plan credibility.

Overview
How it is used
The framework structures corporate transition plan preparation, investor assessment of plan credibility, and regulatory requirements for plan disclosure.
Why it matters
The TPT turned transition plans from press releases into auditable strategy documents — the rulebook of net zero credibility.
