The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures provides a framework for organisations to report risks, dependencies, impacts and opportunities related to nature. Its recommendations (v1.0) mirror the TCFD four-pillar architecture — governance, strategy, risk and impact management, metrics and targets — and introduce the LEAP assessment approach (Locate, Evaluate, Assess, Prepare) for identifying nature-related issues across operations and value chains. Hundreds of organisations have registered as adopters, and the framework is referenced by regulators considering nature-related disclosure. Under its materiality provisions the choice of lens sits with the reporter (TNFD §3.3). The framework structures disclosure; adoption is a reporting commitment, not a certification of nature performance. Adopters publish TNFD-aligned reports, and the task force maintains a public register of committed organisations alongside guidance on metrics, scenarios and sector priorities. Its architecture is deliberately consistent with ISSB and GRI so nature data can flow into mainstream reporting. Using this framework does not by itself verify data accuracy, legal compliance or sustainability performance.
