B Corp Certification is B Lab's company-level certification of social and environmental performance, governance and accountability. Companies are assessed against the B Lab Standards — now in their V2 framework, which replaces the old points-based B Impact Assessment scoring with mandatory requirements across impact topics including climate, human rights, fair work and governance — verified by B Lab's assurance process, with recertification required on a recurring cycle. Certification also carries a legal accountability requirement, embedding stakeholder governance in the company's articles where the jurisdiction allows. The B Corp directory is public, so certification status is checkable. The central claim discipline: B Corp certifies the company, not its products. The standards are developed through public consultation and B Lab's multi-stakeholder governance, and a company's assessment results are visible in its public B Corp profile. Recertification keeps the credential time-bound, so a 'B Corp' claim should always be checkable against the live directory. The certification does not automatically apply to every product, service or claim made by the certified organisation.
